Just a day after the Coast regional coordinator talked ill of the KDF in Boni forest, today some officers were reported dead and others got injured after Alshabaab ambushed Kenyan officers who were on patrol at Mararani area in Lamu county. The numbers have not been confirmed.

The security officers RBPU vehicle landed on IED followed by a gun fight from the attackers. The officers were claimed to be heading to Basuba. The people of Lamu county have cried from the harassment done by KDF and they have resolved to keep quiet on the attacks.

"KDF has been harassing us and they have failed to secure the border. The government said that they will build a wall but nothing has been constructed so far." A Mararani resident said.

"Security agents were recruited under corruption, now some do back deals and earn from the enemies. They are harassing the common and innocent people instead of facing the invaders. They have killed innocent people in Lamu. So it has reached a time where we do not feel anything for them regardless of being brothers and Sisters."  Munyoki John said in Basuba.

People urged the Lamu county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri to withdraw the KDF at the Boni forest and take new troops. The KDF has been in a Timber business in the forest instead of facing attackers. They also appealed to the Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa to work with the county commissioner instead of fighting one another.

The attackers seemed to have invented new methods of getting the Kenyans security officers by implanting IED on the roads commonly used by the patrols. People have been cautioned to exercise peaceful nature in dealing with the security matters in Lamu county. The county commissioner urged the people to give any information and suspicions.
