Jomo Kenyatta University of Agricultural and Technology (JKUAT) main campus has ceased its operations effectively. The Campus has closed down its classes and called out all student to vacate its premises immediately.


According to the campus officials, a circular copied several heads of departments called out everyone to suspend all activities taking place at the campus. JKUAT activities and operations suspended indefinitely.


In a circular dated 15 of November 2017 written by the University Registrar of Academic Affairs Dr. Muoria, studies for the students in session for the September-December semester has been suspended indefinitely. Muoria asked the students living in the school residence to vacate the premises.


In the circular copied to the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vicrelayede-Chancellor, Principals, Deans of Schools, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Security Officer and the University Liberian; the students have been advised to wait for further communication which will be relayed in due time.


With the university’s graduation slated for Friday 17th November 2017, the news of the campus closure came as a shock to many students. The university went on to clarify the matter on Twitter, with the graduation ceremony set to go on as planned.



The students and parents communicated with the management of the institution (JKUAT) but declined to give out reasons. The reasons for the indefinite closure have not been stated. The stakeholders of the institution have been told to be calm as further communication will be delivered to them soon.
