Mombasa county has been blamed over the waste management. NEMA has called upon the county to strategize on how they will dump the Mombasa county waste or find ways of recycling it.

Residents in Changamwe, Kisauni and Mvita gave two months ultimatum to clean the city and their areas too before they protest.

Mombasa county has been in the limelight accusing Governor Hassan Ali Joho of failing to deal with waste management. The rise of Chikungunya, Malaria, Dengue fever and other diseases is associated with dumps and breeding sites for Mosquitoes.

The county government has been called out to deal with the waste and look for ways of recycling the waste before the city becomes a dump site.
