Just after the Nairobi deputy, Polycarp Igathe sent his resignation letter to his boss  Hon Mike Sonko, the governors camp went into a panicking mode. It is speculated that the direction for resignation came from the statehouse.

This comes after a series of consultations between the governor and the president that the county boss should be active political and leave the county activities to his deputy Igathe.

The Governor refused to accept the requests and a tag of war between the state and the county started as stated by the Igathe.

In a terse letter addressed to Mr. Sonko, Mr. Igathe said he was resigning effective 1 pm on Wednesday, January 31 and thanked him for the opportunity to work as his deputy.

“Serving Kenyans in Nairobi under your leadership has been an honor and distinct privilege. I am grateful to Nairobians and yourself for giving me the opportunity to serve,” he wrote.

But on his Twitter page the Mr. Igathe was clearer, writing: “Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign as elected deputy governor of Nairobi County effective 1 pm on 31st Jan 2018. I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive the administration and management of the county.”

The Deputy President camp is alleged to directly involved in the county development sabotage following the misunderstandings between the DP William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.  The tag of war is all about strategizing for 2022 elections.
