Politicians from the coast have been urged by their communities around them to set for the top seats in the country. According to wazee from Ribe, Rabai and Jibana community, they have insisted that there is need to have a political party in the region.

According to Wiper Kilifi senatorial aspirant Chigiri Dunga, it has been a trend in the last 4 elective cycles, Kilifi and coast region voting behaviour has been wave-based mainly driven by euphoria politics. 2002 was NARC (Rainbow) and witnessed the late Karisa Maitha moving around the constituencies of Kilifi to oust those who were not in NARC but in the ruling party KANU.

"Katana Ngala, the late Matthias Keah, Abubakar Badawi,  were victims of that Euphoria. 2007 it was ODM, and if you were not in ODM you were punished by voters. Joe Khamis despite his good development and a legislative record was shown the door. Others like Harry Kombe went home. Come 2013, the story was no different. Several got seats for just being in ODM including the retired judge. " he said.

"2017, it was more painful. Orange was very powerful and am a victim of not being in the Orange team though we were together in NASA. Before we talk of gubernatorial succession 2022. One has to tell me which vehicle will be euphoric in Kilifi because the pattern will not change. Is it a local party or Orange(ODM) again or Jubilee?" he asked.

Coast region especial three counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Taita Taveta shape the electoral pattern along the coast as the biggest counties in terms of population and size. What will happen in 2022 will be determined by the realignment and the Deputy President poaching at the coast.
