The little rain happened last week.

Mombasa county government now is seriously maintaining the sewer system as last week the little rain tested the systems and was not able to deliver fully. Mombasa county government through county government secretary Francis Thoya has stressed that its citizens will not be affected by the oncoming long rains expected this may.

The county government assured that starting from Kisauni the sewer systems will be repaired as now they are undergoing repair in the Mombasa Central business district. The main affected areas with blocked sewer system are Majengo, Likoni, Mishomoroni, Kisauni, and some parts of Nyali. The county has set aside some money for the sewage system to combat road breakage and has efficient transport during rains.

This comes after heavy rains in Kwale county that affect many parts, especially in Msambweni constituency. Roads and pathways were unable to be used and others died. at least 10 people died and hundreds missed basic needs as the Redcross officials said.

The neighbouring county suffered a lot and that why the Mombasa county government decided to repair the sewage systems as early as possible to evade the calamities caused by the heavy long rains expected.

Mombasa county lost more than 5 people last years El Nino rains. The hotspots were Mishomoroni and Tudor. Now the county is also buying medical kits that will enable people to get fast treatment in case of any outbreaks caused by the rains. It has really  maintained and make the roads in the central business district be in a good condition and hopeful this will not cause fracas during the rains.
