The Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has promised to build three more pitches that will enable the youth play soccer. The first pitch is under construction and it will be up to the FIFA standards.


 The Pitch which will first benefit the Nyali sub-county residents will create an at least five hundred jobs to the youths of Kongowea, Karama and Maweni.  The governor also said that he is in talk with international clubs to start soccer academies in Mombasa following the completion of the pitches.


The ongoing construction of a FIFA standard 11 A-side football pitch at Uwanja Wa Mbunzi in Nyali Sub-County will create a good start toward jobless youth in Mombasa. The Other four football grounds are expected to start in March next year. The areas the pitches will be build include Kisauni sub-county, Likoni, Changamwe Shanzu.

The governor has promised to rehabilitate all the existing fields in the county. The office of the governor also said the next five years will transform the county into a super county.  "The Mombasa - Mtwapa route has a plan for expansion into a dual carriageway. Next year we will reduce the traffic jam by 60 percent." Says the county secretary Francis Thoya.
