Busia Senator Amos Wako told his supporters over the independent candidates as claimed by the NASA leaders. Raila Odinga said that the party will support any independent candidate in the coming elections.

Raila asked his supporters to only vote for NASA-affiliated parties, saying this will boost his chances for victory and support when he becomes President.

But Wako said Kenyans should be free to elect any candidate they want.

"The people of Busia should be allowed to elect their leaders without being induced to do so. That is what I am agitating for," he said on Monday.

Wako said independent candidates are strong on their own and do not need support from other quarters.

"The people of Kenya should be freely let by the leaders to choose what they think is best for them," Wako said.

Busia is set for a showdown between incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong and Paul Otuoma.

Otuoma lost the ODM ticket to Ojaamong, then opted to vie as an independent candidate.

Raila has dismissed independents claims about undermining them, “I have constantly urged them to adhere to the wishes of the people but they have insisted on running as independent, let them not deceive you using my name to satisfy their selfish interest.” Odinga said.
