Mumias Sugar and Nzoia sugar to shutdown it operations next week.

 Mumias sugar company to shut down its operation completely following debts and insufficient cash flow.


Nzoia sugar, on the other hand, is also expected to follow steps next week to wind up its operations.


So many companies have closed its doors in Kenya since 2013. It is approximately 50 big companies and 4460 mid-sized medium and small enterprises have also closed its doors.

Mumias sugar company and Nzoia sugar factory are alleged to be under pressure following reports that it will be closed indefinitely starting Monday over cash problems.The companies have been in an overdraft from a certain bank which supports the cane farmers.


The Mumias sugar board chairman Kennedy Mulwa is expected to make the official announcement following a special meeting with others members last week. The board resolved to close down the companies as the working environment is not conducive.


The company has already down for three months for maintenance. The managing director Errol Johnson had said they would fix the equipment, which had contributed to the company's poor performance due to inconsistency maintenance.



The closure of the companies will make thousands of people Jobless and farmers stranded. President has made several trips to the Western region has not born any fruit in vote mobilization. The closure of the two companies will render jubilee government to miss even a single vote in the area which is a Ford, ANC and ODM stronghold.



Where are the one million jobs per year? Since 2013 it is confirmed that at least 5000 people were losing their jobs inform of big company retrenchment and restructuring. Some of these companies include; Nation Media group, Royal Media, Access Kenya, Posta Corporation etc.
