President Uhuru Kenyatta opened official the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) with a shoot to kill/ hang order. He warned people who will be sabotaging the project or vandalize it should be executed and any bill or anything that will require his signature, he will be readily available.

The president became angry when some people at Mariakani, Voi, Mtito- andei and Samburu were found destroying the SGR property by getting out some metals for scrap business.

The opposition leader Raila Odinga said that the shoot to Kill/hang order is something of the past and as a president who respects the life of the people should not be a spearhead to remove people life because of Metals.

Shoot to Kill order has been there since independence and was scrapped off by the new constitution.People have been losing life recklessly from the hands of Police officers.

The president and the opposition leader are expected to attend the Madaraka day celebrations in Nyeri county. Both leaders will be expected to preach peace as its an electioneering period.
