More than 10 gunmen storm DP William Ruto palace in Uasin Gishu. The gunmen forced their way into the residence where police and normal guards engaged in fighting leaving several people injured. 


The main reason of the gun fighting in the DP Ruto residents is unclear. Police from all sections of the service has been deployed to find the unknown attackers.



An unknown number of dangerous attackers have stormed the rural home of Deputy President William Ruto in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County. The armed attackers are said to have forced their way into the home shortly before 1 pm on Saturday.



"They are said to have approached a police officer manning the gate with some wares they said they were selling before grabbing his gun and butting him with it, and then entered the home." a witness said.

The officer was left unconscious after several shots.




What was reported out by police so far.
DP Ruto spent the night at the Sugoi home before leaving Saturday morning on accompanying President Uhuru Kenyatta for a series of rallies. He attended rallies in Trans Nzoia and Kericho.

1 pm: Gunmen said to have attacked the home at around 1 pm, killing a General Service unit who was manning the gate.

Reports indicate DP’s wife Rachel Ruto and children were not at home at the time of the attack.

2.28pm:Nation team arrive at DP Sugoi home. Police already at the scene and have surrounded the home with reports that the attackers are still inside the compound. Journalists report hearing about 10 gunshots heard from the compound.

2.32pm: GSU Recce squad arrive at the home and enter the compound and more gunshots are heard.

3.38pm: More gunshots heard in the compound and a police helicopter hovers over the home.

3.43: More reinforcement arrive at the home as gunshots continue to rent the air.

3.59: Hundred of residents mill around the home but police are keeping them at bay, about 200 meters away from the gate.




The GSU have surrounded the residence and proper investigation is underway. No people were held hostage as the DP family was not in the residence at the time the attackers invaded the house.
