The largest Market in Nairobi was destroyed by a Morning inferno razed worth millions of properties and goods at Gikomba Market. The reason for the fire has not established but it is speculated that electrical power transmission wires faulted resulting to the incident.

The Friday morning inferno destroyed property worth millions but efforts are ongoing by the Nairobi City Council (NCC) fire team to contain the situation. Sonko rescue team and other agencies rushed to the incident to contain it.

The incident has displaced many traders who rely on the market as Gikomba is one of the biggest open-air markets in the region and many people visit it daily to buy things like foodstuff and clothes.

The fire razed a large part of the business people kiosks and shops who depend on the Market for their daily needs. The Nairobi governor Mike Sonko will be expected to visit the scene.
