The Nyeri Governor Patrick Wahome Gakuru who was involved in a grisly road accident along the Thika -Salgaa highway is dead. The governor was airlifted to a Nairobi hospital where he succumbed and announced dead.
Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru was Tuesday morning seriously injured in a road crash at Kabati along the Thika-Sagana highway.
Dr. Patrick Wahome Gakuru was taken to Thika Level 5 Hospital for emergency treatment later airlifted to a Nairobi hospital where he was announced dead.
The governor was heading to Nairobi to attend a talk show accompanied by his bodyguard and driver when the vehicle he was traveling in veered off the road and hit a rail guard.
“We are working with the Council of Governors to have the governor airlifted to Nairobi Hospital. I have not arrived at Thika Level 5 Hospital to give more details on their condition,” his deputy governor Mutahi Kahiga said.
His Mercedes Benz was crushed and his driver died before the governor was announced dead at the hospital. Photos of his car at the scene of the crash was doing rounds on social media platforms following the unfortunate incident. May the God rest them in eternal peace.
