The Police have warned the Opposition led by Musalia Mudavadi over the underground plans of matching to the JKIA to welcome Raila Odinga. The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has issued a warning saying Raila Odinga will land and go to his place as a normal person. Police will block all attempts of ceremonial welcoming.
"Those without valid reasons to enter the facility will be denied entry. Therefore, those making plans for the day are advised accordingly." IG Boinett said.
Boinnet noted anyone who wants to organize a public procession or meeting must comply with the public order act 2016.
NASA announced a mega rally at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi ahead of the opposition leader's return from the US.
"Organisers of the grand welcome invite supporters to a major rally. The rally will be a dress rehearsal for the Friday grand welcome," Siaya Senator James Orengo said in a statement.
"This is part of our continuing journey of ensuring electoral justice and putting an end to the evil culture of sham elections with pre-determined outcomes. Together we shall triumph."
A small rally "to rehearse his welcome" his grand welcome has been set for Thursday.
"It is not advisable to mobilize huge crowds to travel to that facility as it risks jeopardizing the safety of air passengers and other airport users."
"...and all others with legitimate business at the airport who must be subjected at all times to the standards security procedures," he said.
The Kenya Police spokesman Charles Owino has echoed the statements saying none will be allowed at the Airport apart from the normal leaders.
"We will add another layer of police to make sure no single person will sneak to welcome Raila Odinga apart from Governors and NASA officials. " He said.
Musalia Mudavadi has already made plans of making a grand welcoming ceremony and a rally at Kamukunji that will enable the NASA supporters to know what made Raila Odinga stay for two weeks in the US.
