Tanzania President Pombe Maghufuli has issued an incentive to the one who will assist in the arrest of the top government official who headed the anti-graft agency in Tanzania for stealing from the Tanzania taxpayers.

The government has offered a reward of 10 million shillings ($4,500) on Tuesday to anybody who will assist in the arrest of the official.

John Mbungo, deputy director general of the state-run Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), told reporters that the agency's former chief accountant, Godfrey Gugai, is on the run after his assets were frozen in May as part of a graft investigation. It is speculated that he crossed to Kenya through Namanga Border.

The frozen assets include six vehicles and 40 apartments, houses and prime plots in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam and other urban centers.

Public officials convicted of possession of unexplained wealth face a sentence of up to seven years in jail, a fine or both.

The Government has issued a warning to anyone who will found guilty in corruption matters will be eliminated from the other citizens for a very long time. That will be one way of eliminating corruption in the country.
