MPs both from the Jubilee party and Opposition parties defy orders of supporting the new taxes recommended by the state citing that it will burden the common person at the expense of paying government debts.

MPs are set to mobilize women reps from different parties to stay with Kenyans. The MPs want ZERO tax from the petroleum products as it will increase the burden of Kenyans' favourite processed foods put on the table.
Millers to hike the price of Unga by Sh8 if the excise duty bill will be passed on Thursday.  Public transport will also hike their fares if the President recommendations will be upheld.

More than 94 small scale millers met last week and agreed to increase the price.

But if President Uhuru Kenyatta gets his way with MPs and his proposal for the eight per cent VAT increase stands, millers will increase the price by only Sh4.

United Grain Millers Association chairman Peter Kuguru said millers who met in Nairobi on Wednesday agreed to increase the price of a two-kilo packet of maize flour from Sh90 to Sh98.

"We are looking forward to shooting down that bill which was brought back to the parliament and make sure that the only excise duty to implemented will be on Kenya's' Telcos but not petroleum products. The petroleum products will increase the price of food, transport electricity, water and many more commodities," said Minority leader John Mbadi.
