Kitui taxes burnt after a fire razed finance house overnight

Kitui county taxes razed by dawn fire. The ministry of finance, Livestock, and fisheries building was brought down today morning after the fire incidence.

It allegedly claimed that the fire started at 2 am at the finance safes which later spread to other finance offices grazed down documents and later spread to the nearby buildings.

Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau, in a statement to newsrooms, later on, added that the fire brigade moved in and contained the inferno later.

Dr. Nzau further stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have since secured the scene and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

“Her Excellency Governor, who is out of the country on official duties, has been briefed on the incident. She will issue a further statement on this unfortunate incident later,” read the statement.

“We urge our staff and all citizens of kitui to remain calm and not speculate as the investigating agencies get to the bottom of this.
