Dr. Ekuru Aukot punguza mzigo initiative has hit a rock after opposition mps declined to support the initiative.

MPs from ODM party said that initiative will be as good as dead on arrival. A section of the jubilee party also claims that the initiative will oppress leaders.

Minority leader John Mbadi said that representation in Kenya was not enough hence a proposal to add constituencies will be better than reducing them.

" What we can add now are constituencies but we merge Counties at least 12 the whole country. We need to add representation not to go back where we were." Mbadi said.

Speaking in Siaya, senate minority leader James Orengo, MPs Otiende Amollo (Rarieda) and Opiyo Wandayi (Ugenya) urged their supporters to ignore the Punguza Mizigo drive and instead focus on the one to be formulated by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and nominated MP David Sankok, all allies of Deputy President William Ruto, threw their weight behind Dr.Aukot’s Bill.

ODM members claim that Dr. Ekurus (PMI) will wait until the BBI report is tabled.  What termed as "Ongeza Mzigo vs Punguza Mzigo" will see the light when county assemblies give it a go-ahead.
