Mijikenda Kaya Elders in Malindi in Kilifi County are afraid of being evacuated from their cultural residence at the MADCA cultural centre after a new landowner Josphat Charo Noti claims that the land where MADCA established for all that time belongs to him and his family.

Speaking to reporters in Malindi, MADCA spokesman Joseph Mwarandu said they have stayed on the said land for about 14 years and there are 50 elders who are being protected as they protect the cultural heritage.

On the other hand, one of the senior members of MADCA HaweRisa said the centre has become a major source of support for government and students in cultural history issues, but now it will be a challenge for them.

They want the government through National heritage to support them and block the new developer saying he is among the cartels who have grabbed land Malindi.
