One Thousand employees face job loss as Daima Milk plant shutdown

One thousand workers risk job losses after a milk processing firm owned by Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited shut down indefinitely for failure to comply with waste disposal regulations. 

The Daima milk plant shut down amidst other hundreds shut down due to different reasons. Thousands of people lost their jobs this year.

The production manager at the Daima plant in Industrial Area, Mr. Kenneth Kareithii, was also arrested in the Tuesday morning raid by police and inspectors from the National Environment Management Authority (Nema). 

Nema accused the factory of discharging effluent Nairobi River. The company accused of continued processing goods despite warned by the Environmental Authority.
