The Kenya Revenue Authority and treasury declare a temporary law that all cargos to be transported through SGR from Mombasa port.


No trucks are expected to carry containers or any cargo to Nairobi or Nairobi to Mombasa. 


Transport business at its knees following the Directive. Transport CS James Macharia said the move came after the Cargo trains found to transport little to none.

The lawmakers described the directive as illegal since it was not approved by the National Assembly nor did it undergo public participation,

They said implementing the directive will see hundreds of people employed at Container Freight Stations (CFSs) and in clearing and forwarding agencies lose their jobs.


"No trucks should be found on the highway carrying containers or any cargo that can be carried by the trains." He said.

On the National, Assembly Mp protested citing the move will render many people Jobless.
