Police have arrested 19 Suspects over the Friday night incidence in Mombasa where 15 were attacked and injured by a criminal gang named Wakali Kwanza in Freretown, Nyali constituency.

The government through Interior CS Fred Matiang'i urged the residents in the affected areas provide a report to police in any suspicious person or an activity.


Cs Dr. Fred Matiang'i also asserted that the number of police officers will be beefed up especially during the Festive season in Mombasa.

Wakali Kwanza criminal gang has been operating in Mombasa for over 5 years.   The group has been terrorizing the people if Bamburi, Mishomoroni and Kisauni.


The Kisauni Member of Parliament Hon. Ali Mbogo urged the Police to patrol all through the day  to safeguard the lives of many who perish on the hands of the criminal gangs.



Nyali Counterpart Hon. Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu also added that more Police stations will be constructed in the constituency. Already 2 more Police stations have been added. The police stations are located at Mbungoni and Kwabulo.


The attack comes just a month after 50 people were injured at Naivas Bamburi. The Criminal gang has been operating day and night in Kisauni despite reports given to the Police.


Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho said the next financial year, the number of Police vehicles will be increased. 


" We need to have at least 3 Vehicles in small police stations and 5 or more patrol vehicles in the big stations. " Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho said.
