Just a month after launching HPV vaccination at the Kilifi county and referral hospital, doctors have down their tools following bad or poor working conditions and salaries inconsistency.

" We are working on hospitals that do not have medicine. We are everyday blamed for the county problems. Our salaries are inconsistency. Cartels are everywhere. They have engulfed the county medical services." Said one of the doctors.

Mariakani and Ganze sub-county hospitals remain working under minimal operations. Few nurses remained to help the situation. Malindi sub-county hospital discharged the majority of the patients to look for services elsewhere.

The Director of Medical Services Dr. Mulewa together with the Kilifi County Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Eddy Nzomo officially launched the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) free vaccination campaign at the Kilifi County Hospital at the beginning of November 2019.

The National Government rolled-out mass vaccination of girls against cervical cancer late last month. In Kilifi County, HPV vaccination exercise targets over 24,000 10-year-old girls who will receive two free doses of the vaccine against the cancer-causing Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
