Umoja Summi party of Kenya which has roots from the coast has opened the main office in Nairobi. According to the party officials, more than 15 other offices will be opened by March 2020.

Party official Naomi Kumbatha urged Coast-based politicians to come together and make a big and good bargaining power towards the 2022 general election. 


The Umoja summit Party of Kenya has brought together people from different political backgrounds cementing the division witnessed at the coast. 

The Kilifi office is expected to be up and running by January 2020. 


Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja in a phone call vowed to support it from next year saying it's a step ahead for the people at the coast. 


" Let's have a conversation with the party leaders and see how we can chip in and make our region better. We need a vehicle that will spearhead the coast development agenda, " he said on phone.


Other governors who seconded Governor Samboja include; Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana.


Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho declined to comment on the USPK saying time will come for it but not now.


The party has more than 5,000 members across the Coast region and More than 10,000 across the country.


" We are moving at a good pace. Though we do not have enough resources. Our dream is to see a united country, United coast region and bargaining power in the upcoming 2022 coalitions, " David Mtana an official said.



Other parties from the Coast include; KADU ASILI and the Republican party of Kenya. 


" We cannot say anything regarding the new party. As members of ODM, it will be hotter than usual. When we will be on a transfer window, we will be able to gauge, " said Kilifi South Mp. Ken Chonga.
