Disco matanga has been alleged to be the source of teen pregnancies. But it's now evident that Parents abandon their children. Some girls could walk up to 20Km selling Oranges, Mangoes, Cassava, etc while others knock on every door for laundry and other odds jobs.

The girls in Kilifi county are more vulnerable to prey than the disco matanga setup.

" I don't defend Disco Matangas but to be sincere if a parent can allow her girl child to sell oranges door to door all the way from Bundacho Chonyi to Majajani a distance of almost 15km, " said Zablon Kitsao a Kilifi North constituency coordinator.

" These girls are still young and can be lured easily with small things. Just a few people see them as young girls but we have Men who are seeing them as their prey, " he added.

As long as parents want our girls to help them, let's be patient because the right time of them helping us is coming. If we can't wait we will be forced to help our girls plus our grandchildren. " he reiterated.

Teenage pregnancies have been a contentious and a thorny issue in the county.

" We must fight the poverty epidemic. We need leaders who will help the county in raising the standards of its people. Otherwise, we will continue talking about teenage pregnancies while many young girls continue getting pregnants, " Kilifi mums association head Kibibi Ali said.
