Government to spend more if MCAs annually meeting welfare agendas pass in Busia

Members of County assemblies across the country are planning to meet at their Annual meeting in Busia. The Busia county is in the last preparations for the meeting.  Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong said the county has already facilitated the process.


" This is a blessing to the county. It will boost local tourism in our area. We wish to extend the annual meeting from 2 days to 7 days, " the governor said.

The Speaker of the County Assembly of Busia Hon. Bernard Mubinja Wamalwa said the publishing of Agendas of the meeting is in progress and all MCAs will get copies before the meeting.

Some of the agendas include; Pension for the MCAs, Push for the increase of county allocations, MCAs welfare, County MCAs offices, MCAs schemes among others.


The Wards bosses want something similar with what the Members of National assembly are getting in terms of allowances and Welfare.


Currently, there are 1450 elected MCAs and 772 nominated MCAs bringing the total number to 2,222 MCAs countrywide.

When the Proposed agenda is pass, the government will spend more Billions to the MCAs. The outgoing MCAs will be benefiting with the Schemes and Pensions which will raise the government wage bill.
