Mombasa county Secretary Francis Thoya has been appointed as the coast regional director of Department for International Development (DFID).


The Department for International Development is a United Kingdom government department responsible for administering overseas aid. The goal of the department is "to promote sustainable development and eliminate world poverty". DFID is headed by the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for International Development.

The County Secretary will oversea UK based activities along the Coastline. The Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho congratulated his CS for the new position as it will help the People of the coast after 7 years working with Mombasa county.


The Head of DFID Kenya Julius Court said Kenya is one of the fastest-growing economies in the East African region and has a reputation for pioneering innovative business ideas in financial concepts.

He applauded Mr Thoya for his appointment as one of the achievements that DFID has done at the coast by taking a son of the region.
