Dabaso Ward ODM Nomination wars escalated to Governor Amason Kingi and MP Owen Baya Kilifi

Kilifi-North Mp Owen Baya has called out all who participated in the Dabaso ward ODM party primaries to unite.


The call comes after a dozen of him supporters alleged Kilifi county governor spanner boys scared voters and forced them to make incorrect decisions. They added that the Governors foot-soldiers hoodwinked residents only to vote for what the boys said.


" We were promised some money by the governors' representatives led by Sammy Nyundo and Chief Officer Alio Ibrahim Adan. They later threaten us with guns. We need speedy investigations. Those guys stole the nominations and handed over the certificate to their directed nominee, " Grace Mwangi, a resident at Watamu said.


" This is a serious statement it must be investigated and if confirmed those mentioned be arrested for wrong use and display of firearm to citizens who were not armed, " the former aspirant said.


The candidates for the ODM party ticket in Dabaso Ward seat in Kilifi North by-election were Hamza Hamisi Hussein, Dickson Karani Yaa, and Emmanuel Changwa Kombe who agreed to hold party primaries Sunday 16th February 2020.


" That was a power bank. It was a gun. How can we shoot our voters? She cannot differentiate between a power bank and a pistol, " Sammy Nyundo said.

Dickson Karani Yaa won the ODM party nomination ticket for the Dabaso ward by-election.


Karani garnered 1,275 votes beating two former MCAs Hamza Yusuf and Emmanuel Changawa, who garnered 653 votes and 914 votes respectively.


"We agreed with my competitors that whoever wins in the nomination will get support from the losers. I thus believe that since I have won, they will come on board as we unite for the betterment of our ODM party," Karani said.


The seat was declared vacant after the High Court nullified the election of Changawa following an election petition filed by ANC candidate Karani who later jumped ship to ODM.
