 A Kenyan medical student from China suspected to have contracted the coronavirus who was admitted at Rehemtullah at Coast General Hospital in Mombasa has been released.


The student from Southern Medical University in Guangzhou arrived from China on January 30, 2020, and was first admitted at Mombasa Hospital with complaints of chest pain and difficulties in breathing.


She was later transferred to the Coast General Hospital on Sunday admitted in an isolated private room at Rehemtullah wing.


The Mombasa County Chief Health Officer, Dr Khadija Shikely confirmed that the student who hails from Likoni constituency in Mombasa was strictly isolated at the hospital and there were no chances of infecting others.


The Coast general administration affirmed that there are no coronavirus cases in Mombasa at all.
