Benedict Karissa Fondo released after the state helped him raise Sh 1 million fine. President Uhuru Kenyatta through the Mombasa county commander Augustine Nthumbi said its only courage bitting economy could make him do that illegal business.  He directed the state to provide the bail amount.



Benedict Karissa Fondo who was jailed for transporting a live python snake to Ukunda is now a free man after he was released on Thursday, February 20. Mombasa County Commander Augustine Nthumbi also said the 33-year-old man was freed after he paid a fine of KSh 1 million as directed by the court.



According to Nthumbi, Karissa was released according to the conditions set by the court. A Mombasa court had slapped Karissa with a two-year jail term or an alternative of KSh 1 million.
