The Judicial service commission has suspended court proceeding due to coronavirus for two weeks. The suspension will take place in all courts across the country.

The statement was released to the public by Chief Justice David Maraga outside the Supreme Court on Sunday, March 15.

"We have today agreed as follows; in compliance with the directive issued by the National Emergency Response Committee on Corononavirus, we shall forthwith scale down court activities throughout the country starting Monday, March 16, for two weeks to allow for further consultations and design appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus," Maraga stated.

"Judges will in the meantime review deserving cases identified by the prisons authorities and issue appropriate revision orders to decongest the prisons," Maraga pronounced.
