More trouble in Mombasa as Transport CS James Macharia bans pedestrians on ferries to stop Covid-19 spread. He said all passengers to be ferried in vehicles to ensure social distancing.

The move after the county government of Mombasa tried to install tap which later went dry. Water problem in Mombasa caused residents to install and depend on borehole distilled water which is expensive.


" From today, No passenger ferries will be allowed at the Likoni Channel. Only passengers with cars or in cars will be allowed to avoid congestion, " the CS said.


The move comes after the Mombasa county government talks on closing Kongowea Market due to congestion. Crisis looming in Mombasa as residents contemplate on being given alternatives as it the main source of vegetables and business as well.



The said lockdown will be the only effective way to curb the virus spread like China and Europe. However,  both governments have not measured the impact of locking down knowingly water shortage and food could be a challenge in the urban centres.
