Honorable Members of County Assembly of Kilifi have today held a consultative meeting with officers from Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERA) on matters environmental assessment to evaluate the impact of a proposed construction of Baricho Bridge and upgrading of approach roads to bitumen standard.



Speaking with the honorable Members, Eng. Magondu- Director, Disaster and Construction- KERA said the government has contracted Otieno Odongo and Partners Consulting Engineering ltd to carry out environmental impact assessment of the affected area in Baricho where the bridge will be constructed.


Eng, Magondu said all views collected during the public consultation forums are going to be utilized during implementation of the project.



However, the Honorable Members have urged the contractor to employ local youths as well involve himself in Community Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to ensure that the community benefits from such a magnitude project.



Eng Magondu says the Government has allocated additional Ksh. 2.3 billion for the construction of the proposed construction of Baricho Bridge and approach Roads in Kilifi County.
