Makueni county suspends Miraa and Muguka chewing. The county also suspended Open Air markets, Muguka and Miraa social chewing gatherings(base). Makueni County commisoner Maalim Mohammed says all found to be going against the new rules will find themselves behind bars.


The county Commissioner has increased Patrol units in the county to fight the menace. Makueni County vehicles will also be used by the Police together with county security to enhance security and enforcing the new laws.


Makueni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana through the Makueni county emergency response committee together with the county Commisoner announced a raft of new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the county.


Following the meeting, the committee has banned all the market days in the county, saying it’s the main way in which the virus could be spread.


“There are market days that run from Sunday to Sunday and since many people meet here, we are suspending such even if there will be a drop in economic growth. This is good for the health of our people,” said Kibwana


" Only licensed bars will be allowed to conduct business and will be required to operate strictly between 5 PM to 11 PM, " the committee recommended a review on the times that bars and recreational spots conduct business.

“There is an immediate suspension of night club operation hours; all liquor licensed outlets to operate 5 pm-11 pm including weekends. This includes only licensed clubs,” he added


“All social gatherings such as sporting, leisure, Muguka and Miraa chewing joints are suspended with immediate effect, “he said
