Apart from the first National Youth Service(NYS 1) where Josephine Kabura, Ngiritas, Mr Peter Mangiti and Governor Ann Waiguru were involved, another scandal rocks the body.

It is alleged more Sh 600 Million cannot be accounted for in the devolution ministry under CS Eugene Wamalwa. Despite facing car fraud cases, the CS is now facing another scandal, NYS 2.

The revelations come after a bank account was deposited 1.5 Million by mistake from the NYS. Then it was reversed and re-deposited again. After a series of investigations, it was revealed that more than Sh 600 Million were being deposited to personal accounts.

The affected owner of the account reported the matter to EACC, the commission asked to freeze an account belonging to a trader that some money was deposited into her account on two occasions between December and February 2020.

EACC said preparatory investigations verified the funds remitted to the account of Emily Nyambura were not backed by any documentation.

“The commission reasonably suspects that the said sum is public property being embezzled by public officials at the National Youth Service through remittance to the respondent’s bank account,” the application stated.

Court documents revealed that some Sh1,895,366 was credited to Ms Nyambura’s account on December 30 for a claimed supply of bread to the NYS.

Ms Nyambura, who is also a trader, said she was however agitated to receive the money yet she had not made supplies to NYS.

She instructed her bank, Kenya Commercial Bank, Ruiru branch, to reverse the transaction. This was done but on February 20, another amount of Sh1,862,687 was sent into her account, yet she had not supplied anything to the NYS.

Ms Nyambura maintained that she has never supplied or transacted with NYS.
