Kizurini police, Kilifi county on Thursday night arrested 14 people found drinking mnazi palm wine inside a video showhall at Gotani trading centre, Kaloleni sub-county.

The 14 people were taken to a quarantine centre for mandatory 14 days and later will be charged for disobeying government directives on the social gathering and endangering people knowingly.



“Today at 1200hrs police officers received intelligence report that there was a group of people who had locked themselves in a video showroom while drinking palm wine in Gotani trading centre,” part of a police statement reads.


Those who were arrested include the owner Tsuwi Nzaro,  Zawadi Kazungu, Anastacia Tenga, Furaha Kanze, Kazungu Katana, John Kahindi, Alfred Maligindi, Kahindi Kenga, Juma Karengi, Hamisi Kazungu, Mohamed Mugandi, Dennis Masha and Lenox Samuel.


Also detained is Tsuwi Katana who is claimed to have travelled from Nairobi on April 17, 2020. He arrived home on April 19, 2020. He was also taken to the quarantine facility.


On Friday, Kaloleni sub-county police commandant Ezekiel Chepkwony said police are on high alert for those defying the measures put in place by the government to prevent the spread of the naval virus.
