A Kenyan magistrate and a Kenya Defence Force colonel were arrested in a night Police crackdown in Nairobi. They were arrested at a bar partying past the curfew hours.

A report aired by Citizen TV on Friday, April 10, revealed that the two were arrested while partying the night in a bar at Embakasi, Nairobi.

Police acted on a tip-off from the public, nabbing the two with 28 other revellers who were found to be flouting various directives issued by the government on curbing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Kenya.

They will employ part of the Easter weekend behind bars until Tuesday, April 14, when they will be arraigned in court.

Law Society of Kenya Chairperson Nelson Havi stated that Nairobi Police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed the incident.

"We will go and bail them out on Thursday, April 16" Havi detailed.

The government directed businessmen to shutdown bars as restaurants to offer take-away services only between 5 a.m and 7 p.m.
