Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi tests Negative of Coronavirus. Speaking at Afya House, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe stated that the DG had been declared fit and recovered after three tests that all showed Negative of COVID-19.

"All the tests turned negative. Naturally, the issue of the law will now follow up with him," CS Kagwe stated.

DG Gideon Saburi had tested positive on Sunday, March 22, weeks after arriving in the country from Germany via Amsterdam on March 6.

He refused to self-quarantine as well as aborting leave days given by the Governor and he came into contact with several people, which caused a turmoil among Kenyans.

DG Saburi is reported to have met a group of MCAs on March 7 at Royal Hotel in Mazeras to discuss preparations for International Women's Day celebrations that were to be held in Rabai.

He also attended the burial of the late former Deputy Governor Kenneth Kamto's bodyguard on the same date and was reportedly sighted at a night club in Bamburi, Mombasa on March 19.


Besides, CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases had risen to 110 after he stated that 29 new people had tested positive for the virus.
