COVID-Corruption: Bungoma county procures 20 Litre jerrycans at Sh 10,000

Sh 10,000 per jerrycane in Bungoma county stores.

Bungoma county is accused of buying 20litre water containers at the cost of Sh 10,000. The 20 litter containers with taps distributed across the Bungoma Town and its environment from the county government.


The containers were distributed to Bodaboda parking, Open-air markets,  matatu stages among other areas. However, residents demand answers because it has emerged that the county acquired the containers from well-wishers.


The donors blew the whistle saying they donated the containers and it is not funded from the county government as earlier stated. The Procurement department leaked some documents through a vocal MCA that shown the Millions used to acquire the same containers donated.


Now residents want answers from their county over the County Project. They said 20 Litre containers cost utmost Sh 100 but not Sh 10,000. However, the residents demanded the county government distribute facemasks as there is a shortfall of the commodity. 


Bungoma Governor  Wycliffe Wamangati urged the residents to focus on the pandemic and after the disaster, they will talk about the said procurement inflation through the MCAs.
