Kilifi County deputy governor Gideon Saburi has been taken to the Mombasa court where he faces charges for deliberately spreading Coronavirus despite being told to self-quarantine. He defied self-quarantine orders after arriving from Germany.

He spent several days at Port Police Station after being released from the Coast General and Referral Hospital.

The Mombasa law court Judge proposed that the suspect be detained in the Manyani Prison for more 14 days for Police to continue with their investigations.

However, the accused was taken back to Port Police Station until 9th March, 2020 where the prosecution will finalize the charges. Its when they will take him to Manyani or released on bail terms.

The Judge said that freeing him will be dangerous as locals are angry with him. They might harm him.

However, accused also said that there no evidence to prove that the locals were angry with him and may injure him if he was released on bail.
