“We were here on April 8th, and then salaries for March are not yet paid. We want the governor to end these late payments. We also need motivation and transport for every nurse, doctor and any other worker at the Public hospitals,” Mwachonda said.

Kenya National Union of Nurses Secretary General Mombasa branch Peter Maroko added that the majority of nurses stay in Mtwapa. They need the county government to help in terms of transport during the cessation period as public transport will not be allowed from Kilifi to Mombasa from Wednesday, 8th April 2020.

" My fellow medical officers from Mtwapa from today will not be able to come to work because of the public transport hitch. Those who work in the isolation wards have insufficient protective gear. We are going to have a meeting with the county government but we need the Governor to engage his finance department to rescue us. We need Governor Hassan Joho intervention, " SG Mr Maroko added.

However, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho said the county has set aside Sh 200 Million with a target of Sh 700 Million in the fight against the naval virus.
