Governor Amason Kingi talks of porous restriction county borders.

As the police at the border between the "movement restricted counties" continue to ask for bribes and allow people to cross, a Man testing positive of COVID-19 captured in Kilifi county from Mombasa.

Last week Kaloleni Sub County COVID -19 surveillance team received a call from a concerned citizen that a man who works in Mombasa County had sneaked into Kibaokiche, Kaloleni sub-county in Kilifi County, despite the cessation of movements between the two counties.

Kilifi surveillance team swivelled into action so as to trace this gentleman.

Unfortunately tracing this gentleman wasn’t easy as he had switched off his phone and moved out of his home in KibaoKiche.

He was only traced yesterday when his uncle took him to Mariakani Sub County hospital where his sample was taken for testing. This morning his results came out positive for Covid-19.

The gentleman has since been moved to an isolation centre and his immediate family members with whom he had contact have been placed under the mandatory fourteen days (14) quarantine.

Tracing of other contacts begun he may have come into contact with many people.

"We have already alerted the County Government of Mombasa to also commence immediate contact tracing of those people who may have come into contact with this gentleman while he was in Mombasa, " Kilifi governor Amason Kingi says.

"We call upon anybody who might have come into close contact with the above gentleman to call 1. 0745 994 244 2. 0794 497 578 3. 0794 366 212. For rapid response Kilifi Corona updates" a statement from the Kilifi health department said.
