Some Eastleigh residents moved out yesterday to the neighbouring estates. It is said that the majority moved to South B and South C.



According to the residents, they decided to move out of the to proceed with their businesses because the government did not give them food.



" I'm a hawker. I depend on that to feed my family. Locking myself in a room just for day will make me go hungry the next day. What about 15 days? I just decided to move out of the locked-down area, a resident said.



" I will be sleeping at my business premises. In my shop, the store will be our bedroom for these two weeks. I reside at Eastleigh by my businesses are in south C, a resident and a landlord at Eastleigh say.




Eastleigh is home to dozens of busy shopping malls, hotels and restaurants. Goods sold in the shopping malls include imports from China and Dubai.

" I looked at the situation. Closing my businesses for two weeks is a big loss. We operate several stores with my wife. We will sleep at stores before things get to normal, Omar Zani said.




The State ordered the closure of markets, malls and shops in the locked-down areas to combat the spread of the virus.  The areas in the cessation include; Eastleigh in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa.
