Kilifi Governor Amason Jefwa Kingi opens an ultra-modern health facility. The Governor opened a section of the building as its 80 per cent complete.


The Governor said that the Coronavirus pandemic has led to the early opening of the building but upon completion, it will serve Cancer patients, Complicated reproductive related health problems and other medication that is now offered in Mombasa Coast General or Kenyatta Hospital.



" The completion of the ultra-modern health complex in Kilifi County has given our County a much-needed boost in our efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, he said.

" A section of the four-storey building has been converted into a 150-bed isolation centre with two critical care rooms fitted with ventilators and ICU beds, he added.


The county Government of Kilifi will enhance the healthcare upgrade by taking some healthcare officers for more complex knowledge on specialized treatment after the pandemic in different countries across the world.



However, Kilifi county was one of the beneficiaries of the newly recruited healthcare workers.



"We have already recalled 92 medical personnel of different cadres to serve as frontline officers and a further 92 interns of different cadres hired to assist in health facilities countrywide, he reiterated.



" Our County Public Service Board is currently interviewing candidates to fill 186 vacancies in the health department. Once the Covid-19 crisis is averted, the complex will host a High Dependence Unit (HDU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), four states of the art theatres and a Cancer Unit which will offer radiotherapy and chemotherapy services, " he concluded.
