The majority of Kenyans are now dying in their houses due to lack of professional treatment and over-dependence on over the counter drugs.


The revelation comes after several sick people died at the hospital doors without getting treatment for days as the country focus on coronavirus.

Two people died at the Coast general hospital without receiving treatment for over 8 hours.

Other five patients died at Kenyatta national hospital without receiving treatment for over 48 hours including the late Prof Ken Walibora.

Now patients have shunned away from public hospitals and focused on over the counter drugs.

Some people who die might be dying of other diseases unrelated to COVID-19.


Nakuru, hospitals continue to record extremely low traffic, as patients fear to come into contact with suspected coronavirus patients, contaminated surfaces and healthcare workers in isolation wards.


Health County Executive Kariuki Gichuki expressed fears that a lot of people could be silently suffering at home.


“We are afraid many people could be wrongly treating some illnesses at home,” Dr Gichuki said.


“Erroneous prescription of medicines bought over the counter can be devastating especially to those who are not sure of the kind of disease they are treating,” he added.

Coast general hospital after the death of the patients more than half of the sufferers have not been going to the hospital.
