Drama broke out at Kisii county assembly after male elected MCAs blocked Nominated MCAs in pursuing bills at the county assembly.
Nominated MCA Caren Magara received heavy blows from the elected MCAs who vowed to block her from tabling a motion.
The nominated MCA is now receiving treatment after being heavily assaulted by county assembly security staff sent by the assembly leadership together with the elected MCAs.
" This is a shame that a nominated MCA can be beaten and restrained to enter the assembly to table a motion. By nominating women it means we are giving them space to participate at the political table to create a gender balance, " Kisii county Woman Representative Mrs Janet Ongera said.
" Our dear Elders, Fathers. Uncles, Brothers Cousins and Nephews understand that the energy of the now is here and gone is the energy of yesterday forever. This energy shift means that understanding and tolerance is the way to resolve issues," she added.
