Man dies on steering wheel at Kakamega

A 35 years old man from Kakamega County dies in his private car at Amalemba trading centre at suburbs of Kakamega Town.

“We found him on the driver’s seat with his head tilted upward. He was still breathing. However, we couldn’t help him because he was not wearing a face mask. We feared he could have succumbed to COVID-19,” an eye witness said.

“Police officers arrived at the scene over 30 minutes later, when they found the man had already died.”

Another eyewitness said the man, who was driving towards Vihiga side from Kakamega, parked his vehicle on the roadside at Amalemba trading centre at 4:30 pm, and “failed to move an inch, thereafter”.

Another witness, who identified herself as Eunice, said she was shocked by the man’s death.

“In my entire life, I have never seen a man dying at the wheel. There is more to his death,” said Eunice.

The deceased was moved to Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into his death commence.

The deceased has been identified as an Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) employee, who was in charge of organising the annual event in Kakamega County.
