Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli declares Tanzania Coronavirus Free.

The government has now announced new guidelines for getting coronavirus clearance certificates.

The certificates will be open to both citizens and foreigners living in the country who plan to travel to countries where the documents are required.

Minister for Health Ummy Mwalimu says the screening fee is TSh40,000 (about KSh1,857) for Tanzanians, TSh60,000 (about KSh2,785) for foreigners who reside in the country and $100 (about KSh10,500) for visitors in the country.

She added that commuters who have a COVID-19 clearance certificate will only be legal after being stamped and confirmed electronically.

“The procedure for obtaining the certificate is clear, the screening results will be taken to the regional chief medical officer and issued within 72 hours for those who don’t have the infection and their names sent to the borders for verification,” she said.

The tests can only be obtained at the regional hospitals and not otherwise.
