The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) launches Guidelines on Decision to Charge and automated Case Management System at Prosecution Training Institute ( PTI), Loresho.


DPP Noordin Haji, Chief Guest CJ David Maraga, Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i, IG Hilary Mutyambai, LSK President Nelson Havi among other dignitaries at the ODPP launch.


ODPP has been praised by stakeholders on the breakthrough to have Guidelines on the Decision to Charge as it will speak to the work of all actors in the criminal justice sector.


"The case management system will put to rest the heat that is elusive 'case management and record keeping' that we have been experiencing over the years," says Jacob Ondari Deputy DPP.


ODPP in collaboration with criminal justice actors and partners extends to work together to ensure effectiveness in the sector. ODPP recognises members of the public for the continued support


On the newly developed ODPP Case Management System, the DPP Noordin Haji said that it will help fast track cases as it feeds into Judiciary's e-filing system. It will also ensure that prosecutors adhere to the Guidelines on the Decision to Charge.


"Guidelines on Decision to Charge will enable prosecutors, justice actors and the general public understand and appreciate the process. ODPP independently bases its Decision to Charge on a given threshold, " DPP said.


Attaining convictions is not the only measure of success. The prevention of crime through deterrence, access to justice by all, sensitizing the public on their rights and the role in the criminal justice process not just on matters corruption.


On the newly developed ODPP Case Management System, the DPP said that it will help fast track cases as it feeds into Judiciary's e-filing system.


It will also ensure that prosecutors adhere to the Guidelines on the Decision to Charge.


ODPP developed an automated Case Management System to ease document tracking, case tracking and e-filing.


It will enhance service delivery among criminal justice actors and access to justice by all Kenyans.
