Baraka headteacher Nyeri hangs himself

Baraka Academy headteacher in Nyeri commits suicide at the school’s staff-room under controversial circumstances.

It was reported by the school owner Teresia Wanjugu who had been informed by a neighbour that a filthy smell was coming from the school.

She hastened to the school where she found the door to the staffroom half-open.

The body of Joseph Mwangi, 53,  was swinging from the roof on a sisal rope tied around his neck.

Police officers, after the owner alerted them,  visited the scene where they confirmed the incident, with preliminary investigations leading at suicide.

The body had visible injuries on the neck and the left side of the face with police officers saying the injuries may have been caused by an animal, probably a rat.

The deceased was last seen by his landlord on Wednesday around 9 am and is said to have lately separated with his family.

Police continue with the investigation in unveiling the causes of suicide.
